Jeff Nelson
Originally from Western Pennsylvania, Jeff has spent more than 20 years working in various roles throughout the medical field, where safety has always been his top priority. He earned his Open Water certification in 2018, but his diving journey truly took off in 2021. From there, he continued building his skills, completing his Advanced and Rescue certifications before earning his Master Scuba Diver rating in 2023—an accomplishment he remains incredibly proud of.
Jeff originally thought Master Scuba Diver would be the end of his training journey, but the professional side of diving continued to call him. He took the next step and became a Divemaster, bringing his extensive safety-focused background, calm presence, and love of the underwater world to every dive. His approach is simple: keep safety at the center while surrounding it with as much fun as possible.
For Jeff, the most meaningful part of diving is the quiet. After years spent working in fast-paced, high-noise environments, he finds the stillness and serenity beneath the surface truly magical. He believes it’s important to understand why we pursue the things we love—and the quiet is his “why.”
When he isn’t diving, Jeff enjoys motorcycles, mechanics, barbecue, home-improvement projects, and, most importantly, spending time with his wife and dog. He is honored to be part of the 3rd Reef Divers team and looks forward to helping others safely discover their own reasons for diving.
