Known around 3rd Reef Divers as our “Dive Father,” Larry brings nearly four decades of professional diving, instruction, leadership, and industry experience to the team. His professional journey began in Hawaii, where he became a Divemaster and Instructor in 1988 while exploring the islands’ incredible underwater world.

Larry went on to design, own, and operate several successful dive shops throughout Hawaii. In 1996, he opened the first—and only—dive shop on historic Midway Atoll. His passion for developing future dive professionals led him to become a Course Director and Instructor Trainer in 1993. Since then, he has taught numerous instructor-level courses in Hawaii, Okinawa, and Las Vegas, mentoring generations of divers and dive professionals.

After moving to the Las Vegas Valley in 1997, Larry built an impressive career in the specialized world of dive entertainment. His experience includes serving as Head of Aquatics for “O” at Bellagio from 1997 to 2007, Dive Safety Officer at the Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage from 2007 to 2008, and Senior Special Effects Operator and Diver for “Le Rêve” at Wynn Las Vegas from 2007 to 2020.

Beyond recreational and entertainment diving, Larry has worked as a hard-hat commercial diver on contracts involving the Department of Defense and United States Navy. He is also a certified U.S. Coast Guard 100-ton boat captain. With experience spanning dive-shop ownership, commercial diving, live entertainment, professional instruction, and marine operations, Larry is the person to talk to if you dream of building a career in the dive or entertainment industry.

Today, Larry continues serving as a Course Director while helping veterans pursue professional diving education through the NAUI VA Program and GI Bill. His knowledge, leadership, and commitment to supporting others have made him a trusted mentor—and the proud “Dive Father”—of the 3rd Reef Divers family.
